What is a broken link?

A broken link is a URL that returns an HTTP error (4xx like 404 Not Found, 403 Forbidden) or a server error (5xx like 500 Internal Server Error). Broken links hurt user experience and SEO, so it's important to audit them regularly.

How does the link checker work?

The tool extracts all http/https URLs from your input, then issues a HEAD (or GET) request for each one in parallel. For every URL it records the status code, response time, redirect chain length and final destination. The browser is responsible for following the chain.

Is there a limit on how many links I can check?

Yes — to keep the tool fast and polite, it checks up to 100 URLs per run with a concurrency of 6. Larger lists are truncated with a notice. You can run the tool again to check more.

Are my URLs sent to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. The browser issues the requests directly to each target host. This tool's own server never sees the URLs you check. Some servers may still log your IP through standard HTTP access logs, just like visiting the page in a browser.
