How is elapsed time calculated?
The calculator subtracts the two local JavaScript Date values, so the totals reflect the actual elapsed milliseconds between the selected local date-times.
Does this calculator account for daylight saving time?
Yes. The exact totals use JavaScript Date timestamps, so a daylight saving time change between the endpoints is included in the elapsed duration.
Why can the calendar breakdown differ from total days?
Calendar components count whole local years, months, and days first, while total days is exact elapsed time divided by 24 hours. Daylight saving time and unequal month lengths can make the two views differ.
Are the dates sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and the dates you enter are not uploaded.
